The team’s research focuses on studying the structure of hydrophobic, plant-based polyesters — particularly the cuticle — in relation to their properties. This work has also led to the development of biorefinery processes for cuticles found in industrial by-products, such as pomace from fruit processing, and to the synthesis of bio-based and bio-inspired polymers. The originality lies precisely at the intersection of biology, plant structure studies, and polymer science.
