Mastering the qualities of bioresources (in particular plant products) to optimise their uses and exploit the functional properties of biopolymers.

Bioresources are all products derived from life on Earth. These are renewable resources, including biomass from plants. Since the dawn of time, humans have used this plant biomass for food, energy and materials.

Today, in the face of climate change and new agricultural practices (such as agroecology and organic farming), it is essential to understand the composition and structure of bioresources in order to adapt production, while mastering the processes involved in transforming plant biomass into more sustainable food and materials.

This is the ambition of BIA researchers, who are interested in plant assemblages such as plant walls, grains, seeds and cuticle bases, and are seeking to generate knowledge on how these assemblages are put in place and react to climatic constraints and changes in agricultural practices.
