The team is positioning themselves on plant nanotechnologies and biopolymers, with a main focus on nanocelluloses, for the implementation of bio-based materials. The team is developing innovative and durable materials, with similar or even superior functionality to their petro-sourced analogs. The aim is to control the structure of a panel of nanoparticles with different morphology and surface chemistry platforms by targeting adsorptive modifications of other polymers, modifications using strategies with little environmental impact, energy-efficient, solvent-free processes, or targeted chemical and enzymatic modifications.

Particular attention is paid to the impact of dense media, to explore the long-range organizational behavior induced by the high concentration, or the influence on the diffusion of molecules such as enzymes in constrained media with the objective of mastering and adjusting the functionality of materials. All these structural modifications and models should allow the elaboration of nano-scale assemblies to scale for the elaboration of functional materials with the creation of original structures such as programmable materials while continuing the study of the materials already mastered by the team (emulsions, fine films, hydrogels).

Our thoughts also concern the consideration of all the steps related to the generation and end of life of materials and therefore to integrate our work in the bio-economy through a systemic approach over the whole life cycle of a material.
