Particle dynamics and interactions between macromolecules

Particle dynamics and interactions between macromolecules

Particle dynamics and interactions between macromolecules are addressed using a variety of techniques.

  • The dynamics of particles within matrices is addressed using fluorescence correlation spectroscopy coupled with confocal imaging (FRAP), which enables instantaneous fluctuations in fluorescence intensity to be measured and particle diffusion to be monitored. Low-field NMR approaches enable us to understand the mobility of molecules of interest within assemblies.
  • The dynamics of interactions between macromolecules or biopolymers are studied using physicochemical equipment to screen the interaction forces between molecules in organised systems:
    • Light scattering
    • Differential microcalorimetry
    • Micro- and millifluidics
